The so called 'Maghreb Union'. France started letting its colonies leave later, and a charismatic leader helped keep the huge nation in one piece, and play the Americans and the Soviets (later the Chinese)off one another to the benefit of his own nation's industries.

Well, after the Sino-Soviet Split (which occurred in the 70s in this world) China officially declared that its 'Maoism' was ideologically superior to 'Communism'. But by now Maoism is pretty much a right wing Reactionary *Fascist movement. One may notice this by the kinds of dictatorships China props up:Soviet puppets all claim to be Socialist, while China props up a wide variety of Theocracies, Corporate States, and 'Third Way' dictatorships.
