Description Based off of the Code Geass universe.

History began to diverge from our world, when in the early 1700s, the British Parliament was severely weakened and Britain moved to become an absolutist monarchy like France and Spain. In the 1730s, another English civil war ended in a resounding victory for the King, and parliament was disbanded in 1759 altogether. The American Revolt happened earlier than in our world, and had much less support. The British able to stamp it out, and then take most of France's colonies in the New World. France, meanwhile, began to focus on building port cities in Antipodia (Australia).

In 1790, the French Enlightened Republicans took power in France. Maximilian Robespierre was never able to take charge though, and the French Republic was a lot more moderate, even trying to reopen friendly relations with the Catholic Church. The Pope at first did not support the new democracy that allowed for the rights of all religions, but eventually relented.

At any rate, the French Republicans were successfully conquering most of the continent. In 1821 London fell, and a new monarchy was founded in Boston. Throughout the 19th Century, until 1871, the 'Holy Brittanian' Empire tried to reconquer its homeland. It quelled a few Republic revolts in North and South America, and from about 1850 to 1921 it conquered all of the territories in Central and South America. The European Union was formed.

It developed a new since of Nationalism. The Church, the King, and the Fatherland became important. Holy Brittania came to become a sort of Police State. Just as Nazi Germany used Jews as scapegoats, so the Holy Brittanians used 'Latins'. It developed a national myth that the King was descended from a Celtic Chief who fought Julius Caesar. The official Puritanical Church of the state changed biblical verses to show that it was not Jews, but Romans who killed Christ. Besides, the hatred of 'Latins' justified the exploitation and enslavement of Hispanic peoples in Central and South America. It also made the average Brittanian hate and fear the evil 'Neo-Roman' Empire of Europe. (Side note: many Native Americans supported the Holy Brittanian Empire because it discriminated in their favor: if someone was sufficiently brown, then they couldn't possibly be French or Spanish or any other kind of Latin. Africans got treated worse though.)

As a side of effect of early changes, in 1789, the Qing Dynasty was overthrown. The current Daiguo Dynasty helped China industrialize alongside Europe, and helped to drive the French out of India (the French treated their colonies pretty well though, and most Indians didn't actually mind them), and South East Asia. China, unlike Absolutist Brittania or Radical Republican Europe, became a Constitutional Monarchy. The threat of a rising China has actually created a thaw in Brittano-European relations and that's one of the reasons a Nuclear war hasn't already started.

In the 1940s, the Europeans decided that they'd had enough of the Middle East, but still wanted it to be friendly to them and to get their oil from it. So they created the 'Middle Eastern Federal Bloc', which is relatively democratic, and popular at home. Meanwhile, the 'French monarchy in Exile' normalized relations with the European Union, and even changed its name to 'The Kingdom of Antipodia'. Antipodia is now relatively friendly with all of the powers.

The current year is 1967.

sorry, but i had to inform you that as old fan of the series you commit some mistake. first of all you don't mentioned the fact that in this world the Holy Britannia Empire controls also the Papau New Guinea, The Japan and the Middle Eastern Federation(not bloc), if we consider the fact that in this wolrd the current year for the empire is the 2017 a.t.b.( the year are counted from the 55BC after Julius Ceaser was defeated by the British Celts) thus making this the year 1962 AD, also in the series is specificated that doesn't exist uranium, or at least it exist in limited quantity not enough  for a nuclear reaction, this was apparently caused  by the intervention of an alien race who esthablish on planet thousands years ago, that turn most of the uranium into a new element the sakuradite, which doesn't leave radiation but as a much more powerful energy reaction(that it used at the end of the series to create a some sort of Antimatter-Bomb-like with devastating effects),  oddly almost the 70% of this element is situated in Japan(This is one of the main reason behind the Britannia's invasion of Japan), also since this alien race left behind theirs main bases which was later studied by Britannia(Another reason behind theirs imperialist  politic) the current level of technology in this world is much more advanced that in ours, with the already introduction of PC and Internet-like network active by "ours" 60' years,
the introduction of the Knightmare frame, a sort of humanoid war machine. At last, their is not reference to "Latin hate", thus all the non-Britannia people of the conquest areas are called for the numbers of designation of theirs relative areas.

Well thanks!

Code Geass is an anime. I have never watched it. But a while ago I had a request to make a map for it, based on the map shown in the series:[link] . I was not satisfied completely with my original map, and so I redid it.

Very good and I like the in-depth explanation of Britannian xenophobia. I see a lot of my Code Geass map in here. Is that intentional or am I just reading into it too much.

Wow, your map does look a lot like mine. Its unintentional, but maybe some of the ideas I thought I came up with are actually me remembering your map and while ago?

Well people like us who try to make sense of Code Geass' convoluted and frankly ridiculous time-line often make the same assumptions so that we can make it plausible.
