Description This is a type treatment for a tee for Cleveland street wear brand Mean Mugg. The client commissioned Go Media to create urban looking graphics based on verbiage that they provided. Our solution was to use concrete textures, bold type, and a gigantic print.

The client was very open minded, and I presented the idea of experimenting with this and decided to dust off 3D Studio Max and create some bold 3D text. The client loved the design, and felt that it was right on the mark. We offered the design on both white and black.

We have a few resources that could indeed help!

There are some tutorials on the GoMediaZine that were published and that use 3DS Max/Cinema 4D to generate some 3D text like that.
- Tutorial: Killer 3D Poster Design with 3DS Max & Photoshop
- Retro Modernist Poster Design with 3D Typography

There's also a tutorial from our Arsenal about ornate type ...

Ah, I see. To create 3d text like we're talking about, I really need a program like 3ds Max or some program similar. Does photoshop allow you to create 3d text? Thanks for the links!!

Photoshop's 3d features are somewhat limited. I'd feel more comfortable trying with Illustrator actually, and importing the result in Photoshop as a smart object.

But a 3d modelling software will probably give you much more control on the output.
