Description
Mm, yes, something I did for school at home. A minotaur, as you can see.I've only painted with tea before and wanted to see how coffee behaves. I'm pretty pleased with the result.
For some reason, I've been feeling like drawing very "vent-arty" things lately, like blood or tears or something, even if I'm not feeling down or anything. Though this piece doesn't really have blood and tears in it, per se, working on this was somehow really therapeutical. I feel like this guy is telling me a story by not telling me anything.
Micron liner, (instant) coffee and Indian ink.

Kahvilla tehty?

Well I have only tried this a couple of times - there are a lot more talented coffee/tea painters out there. But I'm trying. ;w;
Cool.

The coffee effect looks stronger than tea; just like the actual beverage 8D'
I really like the dark part of the picture because it has this cool ghostly effect, but something about his legs bugs me..maybe the inner leg could be darker? I keep thinking his thigh branches out into two feet or something :V

Indeed! So it was faster to get darker shades with coffee, too!
Somehow I feel like there's something weird about the legs too... It might be because his arm is blocking the other knee or something so the only part of the leg is the thigh and the ankle? I'm not sure, I tried to make it darker than the other one, but not too dark since it's not so far away from the other one..? I'm not sure.

Oh, maybe you could show more of the right side of his back or something? Because now it looks like you're looking at him from the side because you can't see the right side of his back, but that makes it look like his right leg is shorter than the left instead of the being in the same position as his left leg? I'm not quite sure either :<

... I didn't even realise it before you said it, but he is supposed to be portrayed from the side, and everything else seems to be matching that expect that right foot.
Damn you, right foot..!
Well, can't go editing this anymore, but I have to try and be more careful in the future. 8''''D

At least we found the problem with the right foot..! Now we can sleep at night.
I also always notice mistakes in the lineart after I'm halfway through or done with my colouring...it's an annoying feeling D:

I thought the ink shading would make it a lot more dramatic than if I'd shaded it with more coffee..! I'm glad you like it. 83

Painted, let it dry, painted more, let it dry, etc.
The paper I used was quite absorbing so it didn't take more than an hour or half for each layer to dry, but it might take longer depending on the paper.

Gomis In reply to Barsook [2012-03-31 14:59:23 +0000 UTC]
No, I used just a regular brush. The splatter would be smaller and more regular if I'd used a toothbrush, I guess.

A lot of people are more skilled in it than me though.
I'd want to try painting with red wine but I don't want to buy red wine just to paint with it.
