You must have had your camera ready for action with this shot. Dogs shake so fast, if you blink they are done. I love it..especially how his lip is slightly curled revealing a few of his teeth.

Love the frozen action with the waterdrops! the facial expressions you get with these kind of shots are the best.

Look at those ears! I love everything about this photo, the floppy ears, flying water droplets, his parted lips, and his eyes all squished up to protect himself from the water.

Dom, your animal shots are really fantastic! You knock me out cold with the talent you have in capturing them at their just being an animal. The way you show it, really is amazing and I can't gush enough about how fantastic they are!!

It can be bad thing for a dog to shake his ears around like that too hard...can rupture a vein in his ear...ear hematoma(sp?)
Other that..Its an awesome action capture. I also, like that its in b&w

Goodbye-kitty975 In reply to sugabear [2007-06-04 10:41:12 +0000 UTC]
she was shaking water off herself... something dogs do naturally. i'm sure they CAN hurt themselves if they do it too hard, but she was just doing it normally. i think hematomas happen more when a dog is shaking its head continuously and frantically... like if it has earmites.

It also happens this way as well...When i worked for the local vet hospital here...we had way too many cases over this.
Anyways, for some odd reason thats the 1st thing that came to my head when i saw the photo(so, forgive me for that..its was..way too late/early for me to even be responding to photos)
But, all in all i still really enjoyed the shot.
I noticed as well..you use the rebel xti...i just now ordered the regular digital rebel xt...I can only hope my photos turn out as marvelous as yours do

well, i've always been of the opinion that it's the photographer, not the camera, but a nice camera certainly helps. i only started using the rebel in october, the rest of my shots are taken with a point and shoot. good luck with your new camera!

Aw, I lOVE this! I love all the awesome water droplets and the cool in-motion action.
What a beautiful capture.
And reminds me of when we washed my dog, Roxy, in the bathtub.
NEVER wash a dog inside the house. Not a big one that hates water and leaps out of the tub to soak the house and YOU. x3
Nice shot again. I love this very much. Very beautiful.

wow thats fantastic! Did you use any flash to get to that shutterspeed?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
Goodbye-kitty975 In reply to heavenzchild [2007-06-04 00:32:06 +0000 UTC]
nope. i don't use flash unless i have absolutely no other choice. it does a horrible job on photos... washes them out... imo. i took this shot outside on a sunny day at ISO 400 so it was easy to get a fast shutterspeed.
