I can't help but notice that you made the ground, below the comet, acting as if it's already hitting, which is cool, it shows the hit is going to be that more powerful. However, I can see that point clearly, and following the comet's trajectory and the center of the impacting ground, the centers don't line up. Otherwise, it's a pretty awesome picture.

the only thing i have to add to this wonderful piece is the direction the lightning is going in, it always follows the path of least resistance toward a large cluster of electrons in something solid, unless something in that light is solid then all of those should be hitting the planet
