Description
Update: some slight and minor additions to make it seem more like a rock typeSeeing Grookey bang its stick on a rock gave me caveman club vibes, so I made this lad. Please excuse how I completely threw out Grookey's music theme

Following suit of grass startes being based of prehistoric creatures, a caveman Grookey is definitely something that I'm expecting!!

If what you predict is true, then weβd have a first with a Fully Evolved Pokemon whose Secondary Typing is Rock.

LOVE that signature move. We need more creative moves like that that ruin people's strategies. Hope you make something that cool for Scorbunny's and Sobble's evolutions.Β

According to some leaked rumours, the final evolution of GrookeyΒ is actually a big gorilla-like PokΓ©mon that uses a wooden hammer as a weapon. It would be so awesome if your design comes close to the final canon one. This is actually a neat design you made for Grookey. I always wanted to have a caveman-like PokΓ©mon.Β

Iβm thinking if Gen 6 & 7 weβre going to continue the Fighter, Mage, Thief route with the starters. Iβm pretty sure Grookey would be a Mage.
Maybe a nymph type like the Apollo/Daphne myth. A nymph who turned into a tree. Like a Grass/Fairy type. Or even Grass/Psychic.

Yeah, I like this idea, but part of me is hoping the Music/Cricket motif. But is doesn't sound bad. Plus, Grass/Rock is a bitchin' type. If Incinaroar can get Fire/Dark, this can totally happen.

Nice concept, but why would it be a grass type if it had this idea behind it, though ?

prob cause there's already a fire starter that's a monkey

That doesn't make much sense though. It's not like they had this one idea they had to use.

I prefer to think the Grookey evolution with the music theme, however my first thoughts were like this and anyways, such a cool design deserves praise even if it doesn't have the music theme

That's a rather good depiction of what Grookey's final evolution could look like. I even have some base stat and ability concepts in mind...
Grookey - Grass - Overgrow | Rock Head
- HP: 60
- Attack: 70
- Defense: 60
- SP ATK: 40
- SP DEF: 50
- Speed: 40
- Total: 320
1st evolution - Grass/Rock - Overgrow | Rock Head
- HP: 85
- Attack: 95
- Defense: 80
- SP ATK: 45
- SP DEF: 65
- Speed: 50
- Total: 420
Final evolution - Grass/Rock - Overgrow | Rock Head
- HP: 110
- Attack: 130
- Defense: 105
- SP ATK: 50
- SP DEF: 80
- Speed: 60
- Total: 535
As for your signature move input, I could add a bit more details for it.
Flint Bash
- Type: Rock
- Category: Physical Attack
- Power: 90
- Accuracy: 100%
- PPs: 10
- Physical Contact?: No
- Effect: Deals super-effective damage against Steel-types. This causes the Fire/Steel, Ice/Steel, Steel/Flying, and Bug/Steel type combinations to take 4x damage from this attack. However, the Fighting/Steel and Steel/Ground type combinations would only take 1x damage.
Other moves that the final evolution could have would include...
- Wood Hammer
- Head Smash
- Hammer Arm
- Rock Polish
- Bulk Up

Don't forget Head Smash, because without Rock Head, 1/2 of Head Smash's damage dealt would be delivered back to the attacker as recoil damage; that can be very self-destructive if the target has a lot of HP.

I love the design, tho the problem i have with the Grass/Rock idea is that it ruined the Entire type Dynamic since it loses its weakness to Fire

Someone just proposed Fire/Steel as well
I mean Empoleon is Water/Steel, it's not weak to Grass, which is why Torterra has the ground typing

TBH I would kinda like it if my starter despite having a type disadvantage could still take on my rival's starter and win
Kinda sucks when you have to call off your strongest Pokemon just because of a little fire or water or plants

Fire/Steel anyone? Steel-type attacks deal 2x damage against Grass/Rock-types.

Citipati345 In reply to Mario-and-Sonic-Guy [2019-03-25 16:23:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah that would Still make the type Dynamic weird since grookey would be the only one not weak to Scorbunny's primary type, when the others are

Mario-and-Sonic-Guy In reply to Citipati345 [2019-03-25 16:52:06 +0000 UTC]
Such scenarios can happen, since when you look at Empoleon, with it being a Water/Steel-type, it takes 1x damage from Infernape's Fire-type attacks, and Torterra's Grass-type attacks. Of course, Infernape and Torterra can overcome this ordeal with their secondary typings, since both Fighting and Ground attacks deal 2x damage to Steel-types.

This is a fun design, even if it does fall into the whole confusing "Pokemon that wear cloths" trope.
I like how you incorporated some rocks into it's club (but I think it might need some in it's body).
And the move is a fun idea.
