By night, the rain had picked up once more. Kimberly and Bear had retreated into their den to avoid wet, but as night enclosed the camp, it became clear that they would need to leave— if they were to at all. Hours before, Kimberly had decided she wanted to speak to him up on the hillside overlooking camp. It would be a bit of a walk— or climb, she supposed — but it would have two meanings, the first more important: the Stars would be above them. Somehow, she felt that this way, it would be better— they could guide her words. She could have their approval. What she had to say would be so much for him to handle, and she knew that. It was hard for her to manage, honestly, but it seemed like she’d managed thus far.
But… it was rainy. Vaguely in her mind she wondered if the Stars were giving a warning. But for what? Was it dangerous to visit the hilltop?
