Suggestion for musical style: something sounding like this:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a_R14…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KIZNv…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCZH4-…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNenWj…
Or at least, what I think the music might sound like for something with a dark tone full of ghosts who have been here for a long time. Mostly classical-style creepy music (I could have added Danse Macabre to this list)
Possible theme for the tourney: opens with a really quiet tune played on a harpsichord. After the melody is a swelling sound of strings followed by a horn with bells and a piano in the background. After this is a creepy theme played on a violin with a flute, and then a set of 4 notes played on a French horn followed by the same notes played on a trumpet, then a celesta playing along with a flute and harpsichord, followed by an oboe playing a set of notes with one of those low-sounding orchestra drums in the background, and then a slow-playing harpsichord playing underneath an oboe and English horn. After this is a loud, almost dramatic horn and strings with drums, then a celesta and harpsichord playing a fast-paced solo followed by a long string note, then a piano playing a melancholic theme with strings in the background, and the track finally ends with a celesta solo ending with one note played on a glockenspiel.
Cognitio's theme: an oboe melody almost resembling the Chocobo Theme (because...the Masters of the Universe theme sounds like the March for Superman), with a violin playing a set of notes ending with a harpsichord playing these notes and then playing them again in a lower octave. The sound is supposed to fit Cognitio's completely arrogant and obnoxious personality with a hint of mystery.
Adelaide's theme: an uplifting flute theme with a celesta and harp playing in the background, ending with a rather stressful piano tune with a horn in the background. This is supposed to fit Adelaide's interest in knowledge, but how Cognitio constantly messes everything up in the library.
Doorbell's theme: two harp notes repeated underneath a French horn melody ending with a violin playing really fast notes. Supposed to represent how Doorbell is loyal to Cognitio but doesn't like how he ruins the library.
Orthros' theme: a long double bass note followed by a trombone playing a set of notes and then a celesta repeats the notes, followed by a harpsichord and a bassoon with drums. This all leads to a piano solo with a harp and viola. This is supposed to represent how Orthros has a bit of a double-personality with a hint that he is a bit unhinged.
Lost's theme: an intermittent harpsichord melody beginning with just the harpsichord, but then slowly starts to add a drum, then bells, and finally a low violin playing along with the harpsichord. Fits how Lost is a ghost who can creep people out, and if she follows you for a long period of time, she will turn more monstrous and will steal your soul like a Dementor.
At least, this is what I imagine when I think music in The Haunted Library. What about you?
