Description
Etymology: Gwangi, its colloquial name, comes from a Venezuelan folklore creature of the same name. Its binomial name comes from the Greek words osteon, meaning "bone" and eversor, meaning "destroyer, while the specific epithet portion of the name is in reference to Edward Challenger, the famed zoologist that launched the faithful expedition and described a large portion of the fauna found on the tepui.Length: From a minimum of 1 meter (3.2ft) to a maximum of 3.5 meters (11.4ft)
Height: From a minimum of 48 centimeters (1.5ft) to a maximum of 1.5 meters (4.9ft) at the head
Weight: From a minimum of 35 kilograms (77 lbs) to 50 kilograms (110lbs)
Habitat: Open areas like the Saurian Plains, foothills, and near the edges of forests. Eggs are laid in forests and are abandoned, juveniles are independant and spend their first few years in these areas.
Ecology, Hunting, and Feeding Habits: Terrestrial Apex Predator. Sacrificing speed over power, its short and stocky build would not have allowed it to chase prey for long distances, although, its relatively slow speed would allow it to keep pace with its slow moving armored prey, however, with smaller and more agile prey, the Gwangi would have to rely on ambush. The Gwangi attacks by seizing and killing prey with their jaws, large prey are crippled and finished off once blood loss and shock has taken its toll, smaller prey is shaken to death. When feeding, the Gwangi uses its powerful jaw muscles to use by tearing out large chunks of flesh, crushing bones in order to access the mineral salts and marrow found within. They use their tongues to pick up the scent of prey, carcasses and other individual Gwangi.
Diet: Large xenarthrans, medium sized rodents, flightless avians, other reptiles and carrion. Juveniles consume smaller vertebrates, eggs, and even shellfish.
Just for the record, "Gwangi" isn't an actual folklore creature, just wanted to throw in a reference to the film and some unnecessary lore lol.

God I love this so much, very nice interpretation of a classic Harryhausen monster with a very intuitive speculative approach!
