Kyoko is a temporary antagonist in Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch Soul, and current keeper of the Red Pearl, which was thought to be mere legend. Kyoko claims she found the Pearl one day while out exploring a shipwreck, and when she placed it into her Shell Locket, her tail turned from pink to red.
