Concept work done for "Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar," from Turbine games.This is a Kergrim, which is a nasty dude that scavanges crypts and swamps eating dead things.

Ah, corpse eaters (though from that maw, "swallower" or "grinder" might be more appropriate). Β A very notable niche of monster, but one that I don't believe has been filled by Tolkien. Β Very depraved and diseased looking.

I don't know if you have ever seen or read The Plucker by Brom, but this looks a lot like a few of his creatures from his book. Still cool looking, keep up the good work.

Freakin' awesome design. I love those skin textures. Somehow, though, it doesn't look very Tolkienesque. A bit too wierd and alien.

I agree it's not very traditional-fantasy. I think that was because A) This was my first assignment and I was far more comfortable with sci-fi stylistics and B) it's design was based on a not-very-tolkienesque monster that already existed in the game, the caveclaw, because they are supposed to be "related."

congrats! thats very cool. Im scheduled to graduate with my BS degree in Game Art and Design in the next few months. I would love to do concept art like this, but honestly I am to the point where I really just want a job at a studio haha. LET ME WORK! haha. Anyway, really cool stuff you got can't wait to see more.
