Wow, my first piece submitted on DA, woot! Anyway, this piece is supposed to be about my identity. I think it really sums up what I love to do as an artist. I love making fantasy-like art with figures wearing elegant clothing, drawing things from nature, and including symbolism in my work.

The figures are supposed to be my conscious, if you will. I believe strongly in balance, so I drew two males and two females (younger and older), each with a slightly different skin tone (it’s hard to tell with the girls, I know. I couldn’t shake my pencil right, for some reason…grrr). I also wanted to portray the light and dark sides of my mind that I think everyone has (Yin and Yang, that sort of thing), so I made each figure have a bit of black and white in each of their outfits. The trees represent life, which I believe I have in spades…since I’m not dead…and I love life…yay. The colors and swirls in the background represent the scale of my emotions (with red being my most energetic and excited and purple being my most calm). The tree is supposed to be a cherry blossom tree (my favorite kind), but it’s a little hard to tell because I didn’t have the right paper for the effect I wanted to pull off…ooops.

So, that’s about it. This art is all mine, so no stealing! Comments, however, would be very nice. Thanks
