He was cursed to live forever so stuff like a house and job is pretty much impossible get at this point.

Damn alec just tends to mope around about it.
He had once a proper relationship, in fact, it was a romantic one. He was married, and got children.
That fun ended when his wife died of old age and kids decided to push him away.
The only family he has left at this point, don't accept him. Alec is like a family tale about an awful monster to them, passed by generations.

It does, but at least the curse didn't just appear randomly.
For Alec, it was punishment. He actually deserves to suffer, even at the cost of becoming a different person while at it due to memory issues. He doesn't know why and what he did, all he knows is that he got it coming.
