Everyone's got a story to tellEveryone's got a truth to speak
Everyone's been through hell
Everyone wants to open his or her beak
Everyone is convinced he's right
Everyone knows the words to her song
Everyone wants to win the fight
Everyone pretends nothing is wrong
Not everyone dares to write down
What happened after Cinderella got her gown
Not everyone is brave enough, or foolish enough
To show some weakness when the world says "act tough"
I can't speak for everyone
Though God knows I've tried
I can't live for everyone
Not even everyone who has died
I can only speak and live for me
And tell the truths I have found
Only I can decide what and who I am to be
Regardless of whether I seem too tightly or too loosely wound
I don't want fifteen minutes of fame
I don't even really want five
I just want someone to know my name
And to know that I have been alive
Hear him call my name at night
Feel her touch my soul just right
I don't know when, I don't know where
Life is waiting just out there
and so I go, never alone
Into this cruel world of ours
And when I've gotten where I need to go
It will be up to me to make sure my heart is not devoured
I will see and I will hear and I will speak
And I'm sure I will be many times called a freak
But I know who I am, and what remains inside
And in that, and in my goals, I take my pride
