Rocket didn't react badly to that because it wasn't intended as an insult. Thor treated him with respect. That's all Rocket wants: respect.

That too. But I think all Rocket will wants from someone is to be treated as a person, as opposed to an animal or monster. He warmed up to the Guardians once they started giving him a bit of respect and the 'Rabbit' nickname aside, Thor treated him with respect.

When he reacts badly to a nickname it's because he's being used as an insult. Quill's tone the first time he says "Raccoon" to Rocket is clearly demeaning. He doesn't react that way when Nebula calls him 'Fox' because she really thinks he is one.
