I am running out of superlatives here Graeme! But you know I am voting with my feet, and an aeroplane, of course, so you know how I view your work...looking forward to it - the rains have just started here, praise be, so just hoping I don't get rained in at the most inappropriate moment....I have tried to contact Sara but no luck so far....

You will have to start using the four letter veriety, I can't belive a writer as good as you can run out.
Glad you are getting some moisture up there and hope it clears before you have to come down really looking forward to it.

I just made a new year's resolution that I wouldn't swear so much - so far I am not doing so well...but trying to remember - so maybe four letter superlatives could be dangerous - I guess I could say I love the paintings...only safe four letter word I can think of. I couldn't sleep because my chest is all festy - so have been up since 2am - done the housework, cleaned the fridge, drank tea, drank coffee, dusted, had a bath, done me teeth... still coughing, but at least the work is done...
And I had to drive into town today because I could see the cat was not going to make it otherwise. I slept in the car for a couple hours - they operated and got a bone out of his throat..$200...need I say more - but he is grateful, I think!

Don't make resolutions you can't keep, always be realistic other wise you have no chance. Good to see you got all your chors done now you can go and have a sleep.
Cats are never grateful.

I went to Europe for 6 weeks once and had to not swear the whole time - when I came back I was shocked by all the swearing everyone else did - but pretty soon I was at it again too..sigh...
I had a great sleep and my cat really is grateful - he is following me around like a sick puppy/pussy...!

Ole'! I like that plaster wall effect, it really pushes the foreground up. When you are creating different textures, skin tones, etc, do you mask off adjacent areas?

Thanks Larry, no never use mask, believe it or not there are very few hard edges in my paintings, a lot of the time I soften the edge on purpose.
Choosing which edge to soften and which to leave hard is a process that happens through the painting and it will influence which things come forward and which recede. Sometimes I will obliterate the edge completely, the viewer will not even notice but instead make it up.
The more you can trick the viewer into making things up in your painting the more they like it.
Now you will have to go and shoot yourself so my secrets don't get out or just don't tell anyone, which ever you feel appropriate
