Description this is the setup with my canon 10D and homemade EF-mount to lens thread adapter...

i used a 12mm kenko tube (which i can still reassemble) for the mounts and contacts, old computer cable and plugs (to connect to the mount contacts without soldering), a piece of polystyrol plate, saved micro screws and a film canister for the rest...
cost without counting the kenko tube and 55mm to 58mm to 55mm to 77mm thread adapters (which i can all use separately): 2 euro

examples:
ladybug fruit fly ugly bastard
etc.

EDIT: meanwhile, novoflex sells similar gadgets, but mine was first

You can't buy couplers for, say, the D70 (which I intend to get) to reverse a lens? Damn...there go my ideas of extreme macro photography. Unless, of course, I canabilize a lens for the contacts and see if I can duplicate how you did it.

With a D70 (or rather, with Nikon lenses), you wouldn't need to. You can control the aperture of the lens on the lens itself without electrical contacts (as long as you are not using a 'G' type lens).

Oh. Well, that certainly helps me out a bit... I really need to pick me up a intro to photography book soon....my pictures suck and my technical knowledge is horrible.

you can buy couplers to attach a reversed lens onto another lens, this also works, but you get more problems with vignetting, cromatic aberration, etc...

you can also make a mount to lens thread adapter for manual lenses with a plastic mount cap (the ones you have on the body without a lens), this is easy... just cut a round hole and glue an old filter thread into it... with manual lenses you don't have to worry about contacts for aperture etc...

i just wanted to use my EF lenses, because they are much better than the manual ones i have, and i have to carry around the adapter only, not additional lenses too...
