Description
this ugly beast is the second prototype of my macro flash tubean extendable, adjustable all-mirrored cardboard construction guiding the light from the hotshoed flash close to the target through a diffuser
it can be folded flat for transport within seconds
i still have to make some adjustments, like cutting the end piece slanted to light more from the side, curving the diffuser inwards to concentrate the light more into the middle, and making it matte black of course
and i need a longer macro lenshood
but the principle is sound and lets me shoot extreme macros at high apertures with my inverted lens macro setup

honestly i figured that a 100mm macro lense would be enaught for a good macro photo...dunno what is that thing made of?

I covered both this one and the shorter one (used with my 60mm alone) with black tape and use black to attach them now too. It looks FAR better

I think you found a new way to fry ants without the magnifying glass.
How creative, I could personally use one of these sometimes.

This is a good idea... And I have also had problems where I have a semi circle of shadow when shooting close because of the lense, but isn't there ring flash for this sort of thing?

i have a ring flash too, but that's a very different style of lighting, not useable for everything

Bad Ass. My Nikon has some good lenses. But nothing that big. My 2 best are my Sigma 39-80 Macro with built in UV filter and my Soligar 35-140 Macro.

That's great..... what kind of camera/lens setup is that... I was saving up for the 20D originally but i've been pushed in the direction of a 10D 'cause its cheaper and the 20D has "features that not everybody really needs." Great work on this thing man....I almost burst out laughing when I first saw it but it really is great....i'm surprised it's extendable with mirrors....

the setup is described here [link]
it's extendable, because the mirrors are just silver foil covering the inside, and 2 parts are telescopic, so i can adjust it to the lenght of the lens i'm currently using
yeah, it looks weird, but it gets the job done and it literally costs just a few cents
i would like all of the features of the 20D, but it's just not worth upgrading from the 10D, so i'll eagerly wait for the next model

the only problem is that it's not an tll flash, i always have to waste 1-2 shots to adjust the output

It's really nice to have something in your head, click a few times, and by total coincidence, find an example of it on dA.

Wow. I admire the work put into that setup. Can you say incredible!
That would be a fantastic zoom macro lens you have there, isn't it. Plus, the flash assembly is something you don't often see.
