Oooooh I really like this one. Your art would look really cool on the wall, it's got soooooo much presence when you look at it from afar and then it draws you in and you're like "WHAT?! It's just shapes!? This is MADNESS! MADNESS I SAY!"

graffitica In reply to SLefor [2013-02-08 04:38:12 +0000 UTC]

Wow, thanks so much! I didn't know you even kept up with my work, so hearing such nice comments is one hell of a treat.

Yes, it is just shapes! haha! It's my signature of sorts, has been for a long time. Not difficult to do, just tedious. Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

I'm not a very GOOD stalker, mostly because I watch a lot of people and groups so I'm always flooded with pictures, but I lurk about and check in every once in a while. Your work always fascinates me. I imagine that you must be a very intelligent woman to be able to create such strong pictures with such little chaotic shapes, seeing the big picture like that is always something I've really admired in artists, and something that I've always struggled with myself Also I really like what you're doing lately, the branching out and forming more scenes instead of the more abstract works, what you do is unique and you're damn good at it, so keep it up lady!

graffitica In reply to SLefor [2013-02-08 05:30:56 +0000 UTC]

haha! I do the same. I am in so many groups and I try to get through the pieces as efficiently as I can, but man it's hard! XD I appreciated the lurking, means a lot. Intelligent, yes. It's one quality I don't mind bragging about from time to time, lol! The layout of the shapes is random, it's the layout of the colors in the shapes that creates the illusion. I can see the color and where it will go before I even get the Sharpie out. Been doing it a long time!

You? Struggle?! With what my dear? lol.....girl you got some mad skills, skills that I will NEVER have. There are reasons for the scenes as of late. One reason is that color began to burn me out and the darker elements just fit my personality much better. The other reason is for a little project that is in the works, based on the pieces in the series. You flatter me, thanks so much!

Those lonely footprints that end suddenly.. as if giving up on this quieter safe haven only to be taken away again.

Nice visual! Though if you look closely, there is a smoking gun on the ground in this piece.

Theoddra In reply to graffitica [2013-02-04 06:26:26 +0000 UTC]

Hell, I did not notice that! Gives it a whole new perspective. Awesome. It's those little things that give a piece a whole new meaning.. like a finding secrets in a puzzle.

graffitica In reply to Theoddra [2013-02-04 06:29:37 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to see unless you full screen it. And yes, it does indeed. Also, if you notice there is one element in each picture that is always present. If you can figure it out, props to you!

Theoddra In reply to graffitica [2013-02-04 06:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Well there are a few repeating images in these pieces. The first and foremost is the snow and trees. Then there is the flower that shows up. Then in some of them, not sure if in all of them, are the birds who are like the little spark of life, which in reality they are probably there just to scavenge on the dead. Then there is also the small house that is in some of them. Recurring images help the series pull together, along with the style you used. Finally, and of course, you always use the color red in some way, whether is mass amounts, or only in the little flower. Anything I miss?

Sharpies!? Wow! I really gotta try that.

graffitica In reply to manaista [2013-01-30 04:46:37 +0000 UTC]

lol! It's all I use, in all of my work. For the pieces in this series, it's a combo of Sharpie pen and ultra fine Sharpies. Def try it out, it's produces wonderful results once you get comfortable with it.

manaista In reply to graffitica [2013-01-30 05:32:26 +0000 UTC]

I think I'll have to go and by a small kit if I want play around with it. So far the tools I use are a .5 mech pencil, .9 mech pencil, a four color "nerd" pen, a 50 color Crayola color pencil set, and my computer.

Sadly I am running into a countless number of problems with just about everything.

graffitica In reply to manaista [2013-01-30 05:37:39 +0000 UTC]

Sharpies are generally very inexpensive, so grab a small pack and go to town! Also, gel pens are a great way to practice this technique and they are super cheap. I used to be a pencil/graphite artist about 15+ yrs ago, so I know what you mean, lol! Sharpies and pen are the only medium that give me satisfaction. If it isn't broke, don't fix it, right?! haha!

What kind of issues are you having?
