Description
"Beauty" is a very personal value; to an engineer this collection of parts has a particular type of beauty: clean, simple, elegant parts which very efficiently meet its purpose. Is it a Vermeer sort of beauty, no, but Vermeer paintings don't explain how the house in which his scenes are set was built.Related content

The advantage of having a friend who managed professional racing teams was being able to play with - and drive - some wonderful machines. In particular an 840 hp Jaguar from the old SCCA Trans Am series. The engineering was to an incredibly fine tolerance, since the objective was to carry no unnecessary parts and to make no parts bigger and heavier than they needed to be. Often the engineering actually looked simpler and less cluttered than the clunky mechanics that often go into street cars.
I do have a Ford GT Tungsten and a BMW Z8 you might like to play with. The Z8 is identical to one of the Bond cars. No rocket launchers, alas!
