Description
Wish I could say that I just sit down and draw precisely what I have in mind and/or want to sketch, but I don't. When drawing a new face or idea I usually require at least 2 or 3 iterations to get something I can live with. This has now evolved through iterations of drawings to where I think that in one more go it will be possible to have a a decent sketch (I hope). The usual stuff, mechanical pencils, bond copy paper, colors are Uni Nano Dia Blue and Lavender, and the graphite is also Uni Nano Dia in B, 2B and 3B. The white is Derwent C720 ColourSoft

The final result is marvelous, full of poetry, like a spring daydream.

Thank you.
The figure is taken from pictures I collected from visiting the maritime museum in Savannah (Georgia) -- ships' figurehead sculptures. Existence on the bow of a sailing ship must have been nearly continuous hardship from either sun and head, or waves (salt water), cold and wind.
The flowers are a patterned after "Sakura" (Japanese Cherry Blossoms) -- I find them beautiful and evoke a serene part of spring. But the flowers are very delicate.
So too, biological live is an indefatigable growth as a consequence of sunlight and certain chemicals.
Civilized life is very delicate, fleeting and must be assiduously cultivated as well as protected. A complete contrast to the durability of the ships' figurehead sculptures (many in museums are more than 150 years old).
The juxtaposed aspects seem, to me, to describe much about current human life in the milieu we've created for ourselves.
thanks for making the time to comment, much appreciated
