Stuhlinger was a giant, you have brought his vision to life.
I can think of no greater compliment.

Masterful job,Β Graham!
I've seen Nick Stevens' renders and while yours uses the same mesh, the images are totally different. Nick's tend more for realism, which means half of the spacecraft is totally black and blending invisibly into the black sky of space. Yours are much more vibrant and colorful, almost like a pen-and-ink drawing colored with watercolor.

Fascinating design and a great example of how science and function drive design. Nicely composed!

Ion engines and solar collectors for power with a rotating habitat in the middle; not a bad idea. Β I suspect a couple of those collectors are pointed at Earth and receiving Direct TV broadcasts instead, though.

Sometime, I'd really love it if you'd go through your "illustrated feel" workflow in a tutorial. Its something I've been trying to improve in my own work.

Narrator: Unlike its cousin, the Cosmic Moth, the Cosmic Butterfly prefers the more stable climates found in the lower orbits of terrestrial worlds.

No, it's an old concept design from the 1960's/1970's

Beautiful classic science-fiction. This would fit so well on a book cover. Great composition, depth and lighting.
