Description "Without warning the ship disappeared in a blaze of light."

The Enterprise encounters a strange craft.

NCC1701A model by B Mckain

The Alien craft is actually one of the First ones as seen in Babylon 5. You can pick up the First Ones models by Nadab at Foundation3d.com

An abortive attempt at a book cover, I think I'll leave them to the master

So funny that Our Host types "an abortive attempt at a book cover", because that was the first thought in my head when I clicked the thumbnail: perfect for a book cover.
What's not to like here, exactly?

Β Guess they didn't find the Enterprise very interesting. Maybe in a 1000 years time...

Great looking image, and very much in the style of classic ST novel covers.

I looked at this in my Watch and thought "Hey! Isn't that one of the First Ones?" and sure enough...

Excellent!

How about a beauty shot of the White Star or a Minbari Cruiser?

Saying that you're too modest is an understatement! It's funny - in a good way - that you popped this one out today. I was just thinking about your art yesterday and missing your SF subject matter. Your aviation work is stunning - REALLY stunning! But it doesn't carry the color signature that usually works its way into your SF illustration. So many of your SF pieces stand out in my mind for that - and for their sophisticated composition. I still count this as one of the most inspired 2001-themed images I've seen since McCall put brush to canvas under Kubrick's direction, or AT LEAST as inspiring as Whelan's 2010 book cover [link]

I did recognize the ship as a First Ones design immediately But hey, it's COOL and wonderfully alien. A worthy adoptee for the Trek-verse (at least the kind of Trek verse my mind likes to play in). As a homage to my recent book cover studies, I'm flattered more than I can say

HEHEE!!! Now that would have been nice to see in the actual series - of either one!!

Plan to do the others First Ones?
