Description
The team that defeated Jon Irenicus and let its bloody mark along the way in the game Baldur's Gate II is now presented in all its glory. The daughter of Bhaal and her companions; from left to right: Aerie the wingless Avariel priest/mage; her protector Minsc the mighty ranger and his hamster Boo (can you see it?); Karina d'Ervor, Bhaalspawn, Cavalier, refused the opportunity to become a god herself; her beloved Sarah the ranger, introduced in BG2 by a mod that can be found at Gibberling3 ([link] ), Nalia de'Arnise, thief/mage of noble blood; and Jaheira the half-elf druidess/fighter that followed Karina since her departure from Candlekeep, a long time ago. Now, I would like to try this⦠I am planning to reproduce a memorable scene from the game Baldur's Gate II, involving this group. For the time I will be working on a picture of a team number II (Yeah yeah! More NPCs are coming!), you can vote for the scene you would like to see done with this group.
The choices are:
Firkraag
Jon Irenicus
Bodhi and her brethrens (including the abducted loved)
The cult of the Unseen Eye
Kangaxx
Indeed you are free to propose other scenes, but I do not promise that they will be done!
EDIT: Want more?
Rendered in Daz Studio Pro
Some preworks and postworks done in Photoshop 7.0
The compagnons: [link]
Props: The Courtyard/Castleguarde, Cannon pack, Medieval hand cart by Dryjack (ShareCG).

Well, Boo is small and evasive and there's so much of Minsc to search

Ahh... We are all heroes; you and Boo and I. Hamsters and rangers everywhere, rejoice!

A friend has asked to make him a Halloween scene with lots and lots of details. I told him that my pc can't handle the whole image very well and he told me about multiple renders technique, but the bugger won't say a word on how to do it and I can't find any tut or to even figure it out on my own. Would you consider making a tutorial about that, please? Not right away, but in the future if you have free time on your hands?
You've done great job on Minsc and all of them; though Boo is missing? Maybe he hid in Minsc tunic?
Hm, can't really choose. Maybe Irenicus or maybe even Ellesime?

A tut might be possible to do as multiple renders isnβt very complicated. Will think about it. (I am a little surprise that you got difficulties with that one, because looking at your gallery, you got many very good pieces there, indicating that you can make good use of camera already)
As for Boo, look closer, heβs right there.
hint 1: look at the shoulder.
hint 2: if you still donβt see him, download the image to get a better resolution.

Very nicely done, and very pleased to see Sarah in an image, I love her as an NPC, even if she's less verbose than some. Your party almost perfectly matches my own used several times, though I always pick up Immy in place of Nalia.
I am usually not very fond of these type of 3D modeler images, but these ones come out pretty well, though Jaheira's face looks rather strained, heh, though I suppose that fits her having to stand in a group picture.
I'd have to say, if you make another scene, Bodhi would definitely be a good one.
*waves at Boo in the back* Do not teach my hamster to suck eggs!

Thank you. I am glad you like it, and even more glad to see someone else being fond of Sarah! (I actually didnβt believe that anyone would know her!)
Jaheira was a real nightmare to do, but in the end, I have to admit that I am quite satisfied the way she turned out! Maybe itβs because I worked on her for so long that she had the time to grow on me.
The problem with Imoen is that when you get her back, you have to get rid of someone that you got to like! (Last time I played it was Aerie that got cut out )

This is so well done. I love how you've shown each of their personalities to be different, they are not all standing there with the blank Poser/DS-stare. Great job on making them individuals! Though you do need to color me jealous, because my computer would NEVER render this many figures in a scene, let alone with a background in it! LOL

Thank you very much! I like to spend a lot of time in morphing/posing my characters so they donβt look too generic!
Now Iβll tell you a secretβ¦ my (very old) computer would NEVER render this many figures in a scene either!
To be honest, it can stand at the very best 2 vicky at a time, if they are not fully loaded with clothes and props. Therefore, to render this one, I had to convert the figures into objects once they were posed. That and indeed doing multiple renders!

I've done the multiple-renders thing myself many many times... working on one such image as we speak. But I never thought to convert them into objects before. H'mm. I'm going to have to try that one! LOL. Does the object conversion reduce the memory load on the system? Now you've got me curious! LOL
And I totally get the posing/morphing thing. I'm the same way, part of why I noticed yours, I think. I hate the generic-stare/cg-stare/no personality look of the figures, I spend quite a great deal of time usually on expression morph dials and sculpting dials/morphs when making my characters.

You would be surprised to see how much less memory an obj converted figure takes. The things is that one Vicky with Morph++/Elite/Stephanie/TheGirl/Aiko/Muscle Morph/Perfect Vicky/ etcβ¦ has a lot of morph channels, of witch most of them are not even used. Add the clothes that have roughly the same morph channels plus a bunch of adjustment channels, then you end up with a figure that may have a thousand channels injected. Channels that you donβt see but that are extremely heavy on the system. Converting the fully clothed/morphed figure into an obj get rid of all this. Also, all hidden parts are removed from the object so the vertices count is also decreased.
The caveat is that DS presets are lost during the process. I found this to be not so difficult to overcome as (fortunately) most of them can be reapplied to the different figure parts simply by reapplying them. Unfortunately, it wonβt work for presets that are applied only when the figure is created (so it works better when a clothe piece has a separate DS preset that has to be applied after itβs loaded).
Presets that cannot be reapplied, need to be done manually which is a little tedious but not that difficult (for some reason, I found that skins can never be reapplied, probably because some invisible parts are lost during obj conversion, so skin always need to be reset manually!)

That's interesting information. And good to know. I did not know that before. Thank-you! Definitely going to have to try this lol. One of the absolute biggest hindrances to what I've been producing has been the resource limits and inability to render the fully setup scenes because of them!
Thanks!!

Very nice work!
The only criticisms I have would be that Jaheira's face looks a little scary, and the spikes on her pauldrons don't look particularly safe for a warrior.

Thanks!
I know Jaheira looks a little scary and that might be because I found her face to be terribly difficult to reproduce (partly because she changed completely between BG1 and BG2), Or it might be just because sheβs attempting a smile! Anyways, I always found Jaheira to be a little scary in the gameβ¦
As for the spikes, hehehe, this is D&D after all. So everything is permitted!
