Bagpipes are hit n miss.
Sometimes they sound beautiful...other times they sound like ear murder.
Even anthros don't fully understand or appreciate it seems. XD

To us humans, bagpipes are an evocative sound of bonnie ol' Scotland - to these creatures, it's clearly the wailing of a banshee.

The original idea came from a bus tour of England and Scotland I was on 15 years ago. Β We stopped at the border on a highway between the two areas, and there was a man dressed in Highland costume and carrying bagpipes nearby, but we did not associate with him. Β In fact, our guide warned us that he charged people for being photographed with him, and he wasn't a good bagpiper. Β I did not hear the man play but I took the guide's word for it.
Also, I figured that animal-people from an entirely different world would not necessarily care for the sound that bagpipes make.
