Description
Orbit Traps and Colour in Mandelbulb 3D
Link to downloadable PDF: sta.sh/023sy67l938u
Its been a while since I wrote a tut so bear with.......
I am not going to go into the ins and outs of orbit traps here because I am not a mathmatical type and don't understand them. There is plenty of information on the net for those with the inclination to research further. So I will simply refer to it as Orbit Trap Colouring
Mandlebulb 3D
In MB3D there are several ways to colour your fractal but for this exercise we have to use the colouring tab in conjunction with the formula.
So go ahead and copy and paste these parameters into any version of MB3D

{Titel: Beribboned using orbit traps~}
You'll need the navi window open and the lighting and also need to be on the Coloring Tab. Expand Divers/Miscellaneous.
In the Lighting Tab tick 2nd Choice and update the navi window by pressing Parameter again.
Select Formula 2 – Sphere IFS and scroll down to the Orbit trap settings. There are 4 settings 0-3
Under Divers/Miscellaneous make sure you have Color on its selected and move the slider till you get a mix you like. Note Orbit Trap Option 0 and Color on its 1 is monotone.
Now using the 3 settings called Orbit Trap option (0.3), Orbit Trap offset and Orbit Trap Scale move the sliders through the 4 options. Offset will change where the orbits start and finish and scale is self explanatory if you keep in mind that the colour is radial.
Coloring Tab – Selecting any one of the 6 options here and re calculating will change your colour orientation. Changing to one of the other options will mean your image is no longer editable with orbit traps. Lli – Last length increase we'll leave for another day.
So that's fine if you are using dIFS I here you say. But what do you do when the formulas haven't got orbit trap options. That one I am still working on!
