After I uploaded the sketch, I compared the two. Now I feel embarrassed. Like I want to stamp a huge FAIL on my attempt to draw this picture!! This image is already in the best form it could be... What was I thinking??

the lighting of this is quite interesting, and I liked reading how you did it in a previous comment, but I'd just be lying if I didn't say what immediatelly catches the eye; your veins. I love how they stand out, it's beautiful. You have great veins

Yeah, winter doesn't help much to enhance veins, but I'm glad they turned out so beautiful here. It's one of the very few good things of having 45ΒΊC (113ΒΊF) around where I live, I get to see my veins quite well and frequently

Me too. Is that a consistent throughout the year or does it actually get cold in winter? Β Winter here is pretty much just a normal 20ish degrees celsiusΒ

No, in winter we normally get to 0 to 10ΒΊC temperaturesΒ in the really cold days, but we had a couple of -1ΒΊC or -2ΒΊC days last year.Β Cold winters with really hot summers around here, we cross the whole spectrum.

I just used the most accesible light source, the window
If you're looking for tutorials, I'd recommend looking at DigitalRev and Froknowsphoto on YouTube, from the tutorials I did look at were from them, everything else I learn was just experimental. Β That's the best way to learn, put your camera on manual, and just take photos like that until you know the camera inside out, then you can make use of aperture or shutter priority.
