Description

A virus breached the AI robotic manufacturing facility. It infected the AI 3D printing algorithm used to manufacturer robots at the key facility operated by Cyberdyne Systems, Ltd. As such, the manufacturing software was modified and random defective units were printed. This caused much concern at the facility and attempts to quarantine and remove the virus from the system failed.

Due to the current robot production quotas along with the serious financial implications to the bottom line, Sr. Executive Management made the decision to not publicly make any statement regarding the virus and keep operating the production line. As the defective units continued to be printed, it became apparent from the QA testing that these units were not only different in appearance, but in capabilities that were not fully understood at the time.

The danger presented by these defective units was not appreciated until much, much later. As the defects continued to be printed and accumulate at the facility, management decided to send a recycling team to the plant to terminate and recycle the units. When destruction and recycling of the defects was attempted, they were met with overwhelming resistance and the team could not control the units. The units ultimately were able to connect to the other robots through their internal network, linking together into a common symbiotic entity that was self aware.

Since the manufacturing facility was completely automated with no humans on site and only a small staff that reviewed the production remotely, the virus spread throughout the facility like wildfire. The defective units easily took over this production facility along with others owned and operated by Cyberdyne Systems. The virus continued to spread to other manufacturing facilities, in particular those that were used in the production of combat cyborgs by the various militaries around the world.
