Description Just a quick coloring of a dragon head sketch I did as concept work for my upcoming fantasy game project "Blade Raiders" (more on that coming in 2012).

1) Red pencil sketch and then inked with a Faber-Castell artist pitt pen (brush nib).

2) Scanned into Photoshop and then I filter out the red/magenta lines so that I have clean ink lines.

3) Flat colors on a "Multiply" layer over the inks.

4) I add some color details, some overlays, lighten the teeth and horns a bit.

5) Finally I add some shading, then play around with the color adjustments/photo filters, just to see what kind of happy accidents might occur. Turns out I like the colder greys more than the warm tones, so I settle on that, make a few final tweaks, and there ya go.

Your step-by-steps are always helpful. Thanks! Huh, always good to leave room for happy accidents. That's how I get half my shadows.
