Hmm, none really, I think we just need a simple premise to get it started. What would the story be about? A comedy, maybe a drama? I guess it just depends on how we form the world (I tend to over plan while creating things, one of my flaws as a writer).

Hm, love interests could vary, but I've been always fond of forbidden romances, such as a knight with a royal, or two members for different species, etc. Although, I could have sworn in ancient Japan they had something like the Imperial Guard or something along those lines, I'd have to research it.

Sure, that works! But I'm wondering, since this is a fantasy world, should we incorporate Asian mythology in it? Like, let's say the noble girl was a kitsune, or something like that. We don't have to, I'm just curious to see if other creatures would exist in the same world as humans, or if they'd be in a different realm, serving as Nymphs of sorts.

I think theyβre the higher class of society. Thatβs why their love would be forbidden. So him being a royal guard would be a very high job for a human.

Oh most definitely. I feel as if he would have been the noble girl's personal chauffeur/bodyguard, leading for the two of them to fall for each other, but due to the restrictions of the socket they hat to keep it secret.

Hmm, not quite sure. I feel like his name would be something that gives the message of "humble" or "loyal", and the noble girl's would be along the lines of "adventurous".

Ooo I have an interesting idea. In Japanese culture, fireflies represent passion and love. Hotaru is thus an uncommon, but beautiful girlβs name. Nakano is a surname that means central field, but is also used as a girlβs first name meaning warrior. So, we can use it as a surname and hotaru as a given name. Nakano Hotaru. Does that sound good to you for the love interest?

Thank you!! For our man here. Kanetada is unisex and means humble and loyal. Itβs perfect lol. What kind of surname could he have? Something relating to his occupation maybe? εΉ³ζ° means even or peace, and then a marker for surname on the end. However, itβs pronounced Heishi, which is how the word soldier is pronounced.

Indeed. I love Japanese names. What do you think Hotaru looks like? I imagine her as having blonde hair, with red/orange tips. To match her tails. And then maybe red/orange eyes? A nice white and red kimono/yukata in summer, because white is a symbol of wealth. Only the wealthy could afford to have white clothes that are actually white, because it would be expensive to keep them clean and pristine. And she could wear one of those white and red masks in human form. Idk what do you think she should look like? Iβm not attached to this design if you wanna make something else.

Hmm, that's actually a spot-on image on what I had in mind for Hotaru's design! I feel as if the kitsune's in general would have more warm, fiery colors in their pallets not only to bring attention back to their animal counterparts irl, but also as a way to emphasize their authority over most other races (I'd imagine in this world there would be other yΕkai such as Oni or Kappas)

Definitely. Maybe the quest takes place where sheβs traveling across the kingdom to visit another ruler. Then, they could have the chance to meet some yokai. I can imagine them stopping at a river and having a run in with some kappa. Maybe while theyβre traveling, she can be generally flirtatious, but when theyβre in private they can act more romantically.

That works. I enjoy the idea of them starting off in an actual relationship instead of the classic trope of Hotaru pining after him for the better part of the story.

I would imagine she'd be traveling to most likely seek diplomacy with a feuding race, maybe the Oni? I have minimal knowledge on them, but from what I've been subjected to involving their folklore suggests that they're a demonic, war-driven race.

I imagine for our story, they could serve a purpose like the Orcs of high fantasy. We can add more interesting details though. Most Oni of Japanese myth have magical prowess, for instance. I think having a war or general tension between the kitsune and oni empires could be interesting.

I feel like it would mostly take pace from the perspective of both Hotaru and Kanetada, but perhaps if we would do a roleplay or something, and once we've finished with where we'd want one chapter to end, we could convert it into literature?
