I made this sort of as a joke but also not really. I wanted to get back into character designing, but I’m also not quite out of my fan art time. So, my compromise, is this fUn little thing I did. I always thought fusions were awesome, and I think they’re a fun thing to explore. So, why not kick it off with two of my favorite characters. Don’t look too hard at the face, I’m not proud. But I really am disappointed in the way Uraraka’s character has been taken. I really liked how she starters out as a character who is wholly unselfish, and her only desire was to be able to provide for her family. I think her morals and background could’ve been expanded upon more, similarly to how Iida had his very own arc based around his deep connection with his family and morality. Uraraka could have been faced with some sort of situation that would challenge her selfless nature, that might force her to do something only for herself? Or maybe something to expand upon that, where she should have done the selfish thing, and even still, chose to be selfless because that’s who she is. Except Uraraka received no such arc, despite being one of the main characters, and honestly, much more important than Iida. Instead, Uraraka has been relegated to “the girl who has a crush on Deku,” and it’s tragic. She has her moments, but I feel like her character overall has been weakened by her relationship with Midoriya being treated as a defining character trait, rather than something that should go WITH a character that can stand on her own.
