Description I’ll be posting the comparison drawing separately in a minute. All I changed was making his hair blue (because it was too much red tbh), the jacket more orange, and colored line art! I guess the hairstyle is slightly different too.

It’s been so much fun. I start with my usual muted colors, but do four-five shades instead of three, and then I add an overlay layer and use full saturation but light value colors in the range of the original color. So the base jacket was red but I shaded with orange and yellow, then put and overlay of pastel yellow, orange, and pink.

Idk all of it. It’s so smooth and mine looks terrible. My only technique is to color all in the same direction.
