Description
Kyuzo the silent samurai from the anime "Samurai 7". Definitely my favourite character of the series. He doesn't say much at all, lets his glances and actions speak for him. That's something I can relate to. And he's pretty much unstoppable with those dual katanas which is probably my favourite fighting style.So in regard to the drawing
Tried a new style with this one. I took a leaf out of 's book and drew it all straight in pen. Okay so I cheated a bit and did a rough pencil skeleton first! But all the detail was improv-d in fineliner to get a rougher inkier look. Then I emphasised the blood (which btw is some victim's not Kyuzo's) and used a real simple earthy colour palete.The quote is there not so much because Kyuzo would think it but because he's a killing machine and would not think it!

Putting down a pencil outline before inking a picture isn't "cheating", or if it is I've been "cheating" my whole life. Using a rough sketch just helps to make a concept more exact before you ink it, and then notice a crud load of mistakes that you now either have to use white-out for, or correct in a computer art program of your choosing. I love how you incorporate cross-hatching in this, it just really works.

Cool. the dirt kicking up in a circle around him looks awesome, kinda like when the super saiyans power up.
btw, i don't plan to draw in pen, i usually start in pencil for the face, and the add details for it, then get carried away and forget to draw a rough outline for the rest of the stuff and i just draw it in pen.

Yeah It's sorta like his swordsman's chi barrier... or somtin. Jus figured the drawing needed a little extra.

good work, i like the concept of the pen. i think the red is a little bit too bold on the swords (or whatever they are!!!) but that's just my opinion, and my art likens to shit so you don't really have to listen to me anyway!!!
but you've got the detail well done, especially his upper clothing

Thanks! Yeah it is a little but I was going for a standout-ish, in-yer-face-out-of-place, fluro blood look. Also that's the only red ink pen I got, no dark bloody one

Koolies, I would love the be able to draw straight in pen! Or maybe just draw at all... On OTH Peyton draws people using this black marker, and she gets this incredible likeness with a few simple lines, guh, I'm so jealous.

Bah you CAN draw just keep practicing! I've always been a little scared of drawing straight in pen because once a stroke is down you can't take it back. Sorta like life! But I thought I'd give it a shot.
