Here's one of my 3 submissions for the AWA Touhou Scroll Project. More info can be found here! totaku.deviantart.com#/art/AWA…

It's different from some of my past Utsuho art, with how de-emphasized her wings are. And no HAM pose this time. No regrets there, since I think it freed up some room for surrounding characters! The organizers let us know well ahead of time about how large the scroll would be, so it took some solid planning to fit everyone's work in there.

I used to cel-shade all the time. I did that in the early Touhou Mecha webcomic series. But nowadays, it's a pretty rare occurrence! Pretty early in the project I asked what kind of shading he thought he'd be using for Orin, and based on that I decided to try the cel-shading. Later on he ended up going a different direction. Totally fine by me though! It was interesting to try that again, and looking at this whole thing put together, you realize that the sheer diversity of it all really makes it great.
