EVA foam master sword to accompany my hylian shield. The handle is pvc wrapped with thermal plastic for a hard surface to grip it by, the blade is supported by the thinnest fiberglass rod I could find. To keep the construction of the guard and pommel as sharp as in the game, each "wing" is 5 separate hand shaped pieces glued together, it gives it a very dramatic look. The disk guard right above the handle is made with a method I discovered of turning a block of EVA foam on a pen lathe using a dremel bit as the tool to shape, I took it slow and careful, 2 spinning tools at once is daunting, but the result is a perfect circle with an even curve. To add some detail, hylian glyphs from Twilight princess are etched in various places (a 2mm strip on the disc guard, and on the gem on base of the blade). The gem (the one at the base of the blade??) Was originally made out of polymer clay, a mold was made, and 2 identical copies were made using foam clay, which was also used for any patching on the build. The whole thing was sealed with black plastdip and painted by hand with many layered of paint, mostly dry brushing. The blade was painted like I do all my silvers (metallic chocolate brown sponged on, copper spots, sponged gunmetal grey, more copper spots, drybrush sterling silver, drybrush pearl on very edges) with an additional layer of a metallic light blue before the sterling silver for more of that "blade of evils bane" coloration, I was a bit worried it would be too blue, but it's tone came down a bit after drying, and the other layers made it more realistic.
