The Deep Space Anomaly probe or DSA for short is a fully autonomous extremely long range probe that is managed by a exploration-focused artificial intelligence. It was built with the expectation that it might spend decades by itself mapping an entire distance sector of space in full three dimensional scanning accuracy. These probes are self-repairing and can harvest fuel and materials from the stellar void or close passes with certain types of exoplanets. Most commonly they look for rifts that go to other places specifically alternate realities and shut them. This is after all relevant data is collected making them essential as a first line of defense against foreign inter-dimensional incursions.
