            Planet PA-3534 is, strange. I know serving in the ZSV guarantees you will see some weird and wonderful stuff but this place, is more than that. We were surveying PA-3534 and keeping within normal operational parameters since it was a in habited world with a species in the early stages of space flight. They can get into orbit, and launch probes out towards the extreme range of their solar system but cannot get past their two moons in terms of landing on another stellar body. If I had to gauge it I would say they are roughly in a 2020’s state of technological development, one sapient species, numerous nations, and the occasional wars over resources and or ideology. Basically the normal things you would expect from a species that is that far along. From their broadcasts they are humanoid, about1.4 ilu tall for the males and 1.6 ilu for the females. They’re odd looking, greyish-pink skin in the males, greyish-red skin in the females. They all possess biological adaptations for living in low light conditions and as such their posture is a bit hunched over. Facially they have short noses, a protruding jawline and two sets of eyes, the second one being simple eyes that apparently detect infrared while the primary eyes are structures for most everything else. Images of them sent by their means of wireless communication indicate they have teeth both for chewing plants and for tearing especially tough flesh. That last bit is relevant to the diet they seem to have which focuses on the world’s exceptionally large invertebrates. Large grazing animals in mammalian form have not evolved here with the largest land mammal being the species I have just described. They have an organized society, with full codified laws, and the whole nine yards. What they seem to lack is the idea of something visiting from other worlds…or at least they didn’t until about two weeks ago.

                This is where the actual IPF item comes in. IPF-004. We are not sure when IPF-004 first arrived on world, or if it had been there the whole time and the locals accidentally awakened it, but it first appeared somewhere in an archipelago of large islands in the southwestern hemisphere. IPF-004 seems to be either some sort of biological-technological organism of as yet unknown origins. The sizes of the organisms vary from as small as 2.6 ilu to as tall as 79.3 ilu. All seem to roughly have a dagger like form that at the top bears a glowing ball of light. As seen in the included picture the creatures seem to exhibit an intentional or innate ability to distort all means of observation save for direct eye contact*. The image shows the most outstanding feature of the entities, in that most of the body is comprised of a pointed material that is always pointing to the true magnetic center of the plant, and is always the longest. Due to image distortion, it is difficult to see the shorter points of materials radiating outward on the left, right and above the sphere. The creatures seem to hover about the area usually just above the tree line or in the case of cleared area about 11.3 ilu above the ground. There is no noticeable pattern to their movements if left undisturbed. Attempts at communication with these entities by the locals has yielded no noticeable results, they either do not understand or are incapable of communication.



    We observed remotely with a stealth reconnaissance drone that In the attempt to communicate with IPF-004 they do possess one negative aspect in that they seem to be drawn to the higher bio-electrical functions of sentient organisms. They will ignore any manner of non-biological automaton but will be drawn to sentient beings seemingly to feed off an organism’s bio-electrical impulses, however this is theoretical. We observed a number of the local population attempting to communicate with IPF-004 and were rendered unconscious and or comatose by such contact. Surveillance conducted by our drones revealed that those individuals were retrieved by their own people and recovered later not even remembering they had contact. Further ‘wiretapping’ by our drones revealed that several individuals were ‘drained’ repeatedly and perished of complete cellular failure due to contact with IPF-004. We have managed to recover footage of what happened to an individual who was ‘drained’ several times [See footage y/n?]. It seems after the last time the individual who apparently was a criminal of a severe level in their society collapsed after a third ‘draining’ and turned to dust. These creatures seem to be able to cause complete mitochondrial failure in every cell causing effected individuals to come apart on the molecular level like disintegration minus the searing. Some of the crew have theorized it might be stealing their souls, but there is no scientific basis for the existence of a soul so we’ll stick to the facts. The same footage showed something truly disturbing, several IPF-004 individual organisms began a process similar to mitosis. These entities were challenged by the militaries of the population as was expected, but nothing seemed to do any real harm to them. All it did was leave scores of piles of ash were soldiers were, their gear lying about as if discarded in a rout. Uniforms, helmets, vehicles all lay in the fields with piles of ash pouring out of them. The world’s navies pounded away as did their air assets bringing devastation to the archipelago but still the entities increased in number and fed off whoever they could reach. Then just a few hours ago it all stopped, the navies moved out to sea and the entities did not follow. It may be just a fluke, but it seems like IPF-004 cannot cross over salt water with heavy amounts of red cyanobacteria. Perhaps all the life in the ocean is confusing, or maybe it’s some undiscovered element dissolved in the sea water creating a barrier. One thing is for sure if these creatures to go past that barrier they could be a civilization-ending event. We are still waiting for word from command for word on if we are allowed to intervene and how we can do so.



    *Those who make direct eye contact for what seems to be about five seconds at less than a a hundred ilu appear to be mesmerized long enough for the creature to approach.
