“[Audio data lost]….and it wasn’t like the others. It’s not like we needed to make planet fall to know this but, Aruka was vibrant, full of plant life. As we got our bearings, set up the necessary perimeter equipment around the ship we could not help but notice the ruins of civilization all around us. The planet was alive but there were no people, no animals, not even insects. The one thing we found everywhere was the one plant species, a type of vine, it grew over everything. On the decent we noticed it was in the oceans, it grew in dense mats over trees, buildings, even the mountains. Probes revealed this stuff was even slowly invading the polar caps. The world was overgrown by this one vine and yet it (the world) was the source of the signal, the anomalous signal that brought us here in the first place. We felt confident we were finally going to make progress here, the anomaly was near our landing zone so once we were all satisfied with the landing zone perimeter Alpha team prepared to hoof it though this overgrown post civilization wilderness to find the signal’s source. We had to try and make contact with these…’Malik’, beings of interdimensional existence beyond the physical. They had been visiting us for centuries, studying us, trying to make contact. It was only fair we try and return the favor and learn why they had been trying for so long and why, their attempts had become more erratic over the years. We set out tomorrow at the crack of dawn.”
