Oh god I feel this down to my bones. 
I love seeing radical improvements like this because I shove it into the faces of my friends who say they're no good at art and wish they were better and tell them "LOOK WHAT YOU CAN DO IF YOU KEEP PRACTICING. STOP WISHING AND START DRAWING."
