I really like the way you color your lines-- you can tell that the arms, shoes, and hair are not quite outlined in black, but they're similar enough that they look like one solid outline and don't distract from the filled-in colors. That's cool! What tools do you use to do that? I can't ever seem to get colored outlines right in GIMP.Β

first off, thank you!Β
i'm really sorry it's taken me so long to reply! I've been checking messages on mobile
which makes it hard to reply lol
(hope i'm reading your question right ;; )
well, i don't use gimp (i use paint tool sai) but i think the process would be similar.
I just lock my lineart layer, and then dab on the colors i want with a hard brush.
then i just blur the heck out of it with the blur or watercolor tool to keep from having harsh
transitions.
as for the way i pick the colors to use, I just sort of...go with what i think looks good? lol
generally a slightly darker version of the color i used for the shadow in that area butΒ
occasionally i'll go for a brighter or more saturated version, to make it pop more.
a lot of it is honestly trial and error so you might just have to play around with it a bit
until you find something you like. c:
(i hope that answered your question, if not just let me know and i'll try to be clearerΒ
or answer it better!)

You're fine-- thank you for taking the time to explain the technique. 83 I'll definitely experiment with that. Here's a llama badge for helping me out! ^W^
