I put some background to this on this posting:

I learnt a lot about colour pencils while working through the whole alphabet. The children's ones were soon discarded and I invested in some proper art quality pencils. The difference is immense. At first I used Derwent pencils which have a lovely clay-like finish that blends wonderfully. Later I discovered other ranges that are also very nice to use. I have a box these days containing hundreds of pencils that I have acquired over the years.

The beautiful line drawings were made by Jane Marianne Walmsley who sadly passed away in 2017.
