This is a prairie rattlesnake i have been working on for a while. Tons and tons of hours have already gone into it.
Colored pencils and a bit of acrylics.

That's one handsome-looking reptile... and it's not completed yet! Definitely going to be even more impressive once it is completed!
I mean no disrespect to cobras, corals, pythons, or any other breed of serpent: I've always found rattlers to be some of the handsomest members of the reptile family (I've always admired the colorations and markings of the Western Diamondback). Perhaps it's because I actually saw some (from a safe distance and the relative safety of an enclosed vehicle, to be certain) on a trip up to eastern Washington, not far from the Idaho border., when I was "younger." I think there's even a hill called "Rattlesnake Ridge" in that part of the state. The experience was *breathtaking*!
To paraphrase the words of the late Barry White from the "Whacking Day" episode of "The Simpsons," "I love me the sexy slither of a snake." Snakes are cool!
