Description Hello to dance shoes and pretty little tutus
That fanned and swirled and twirled and curled.
To something that will change a little girl forever.
          Forever.
Hello to a new start the beginning of a breaking heart
          And the desperately, achingly, hopelessly.
Because this was the last year for you to be innocent.
          Innocent.
Hello to the first failing and still caring
          About something, nothing and everything.
It was the first little mark on the record but not the last.
          Last.
Hello to knowing you lack and being stabbed in the back
And bleeding and seething and craving and needing.
And realizing that you might always be lonely.
          Lonely.
Hello to a year of fear
Of afraid and played, decayed and bade.
To having a hope that someone was always there.
          There.
Hello to a friend to someone who will be there to the end
          Who changed and rearranged.
And somehow there seemed to be a bit of scanty hope.
          Hope.
Hello to new addictions and frictions
That swallowed, followed, prowled and growled.
And to things best left behind closed doors.
          Doors.
Hello to another year that brought things near
That crumbled and tumbled and fumbled and mumbled.
          And grew so ominous.
          Ominous.
Hello to going fast the second-to-last
          A sliding, colliding, chiding, guiding.
And to realizing that people do get broken hearts.
          Hearts.
Goodbye to childish dreams they go faster than it seems
          They're off running and gunning.
          Towards something entirely new.
          New.

[smiles] Auntie Ink's going to have to teach my little girls to dance one day. Maybe it'll change their lives forever, too.

Happy New Year, sweetheart. May the next ten years be even better.

[smiles back] I'm sending my babies to you to learn how to paint pretty things.

Happy New Year, to you, too. I know these next ten years are going to bless you immensely.

Finger painting with Auntie Liz!

Ha. Considering we'll be old in ten years and probably be blissfully married off with tiny tots orbiting around our ankles
