Speedpainting means you have a pic and use your PS brushes on it? (sorry for asking, I'm not familiar with the term)

No, a speedpaint is like any other painting (so drawn from scratch) but you try to do it in a certain time. Like an hour, or 30 minutes or so. It forces you to make bolder strokes and not get caught up in the details. It's good for practising
