excuse me?

I'm really not interested and don't appreciate the solicitation on my picture. In fact after looking at your gallery I feel the need to tell you that you really should work on draftsmanship before trying to sell. Pencil line drawings based on official anime art isn't exactly hard to come by.

well etsy might be a better place to try then ebay, it's a more focused market, i've never herd of anyone buying/selling successfully from ebay. And i'd say in general paintings and watercolors are harder to come by, but when it comes to medium it depends on your capabilities. Overall originality is hard to come by and something all artists should strive for, fan art is fine (it sells well) but make up your own poses, develop your own style to have them drawn in so your pictures are unique. Why would i want [link] when i can have this [link]

ima try that website out. but hey, you dont have to be so harsh, two of my drawings have sold on ebay and i do have a reputation, not for selling anime drawings, but i do have a rep, i know you speak the truth, i never looked at it like that, and still learning about anime, ive been selling video game stuff lately, i was gonna sell drawings, but i got caught up in fast money, and then the banks are charging people, so doing business kinda tuff now. , but not going to give up. people do buy drawings, some of my drawings are one of a kind, you got to have faith in your drawings or they wont sell to be gin with, ill keep what you said in mind thoe.

I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm trying to be honest with you. Lots of people have successful art business on dA and etsy but i personally don't know any with the same success on ebay, now i could be wrong but generally two sales doesn't a successful business make.
All i'm saying is work on your art before you expect people to pay for it. It's not about being perfect it's about understanding the difference between a popsicle bird house and a professional one you'd get in a store. The popsicles can all be straight and the glue clean but it's not the same.
Now i don't know if your selling just to try and get some money or because you want to peruse art as a career, but either way you will be much more successful if you focus on improving your draftsmanship and getting a reputation before thinking selling is a realistic option. It's not giving up, it's preparing.

GrayWolfShadow In reply to animeatru [2012-09-08 02:48:45 +0000 UTC]

It's fine XD Me professional, not exactly, i sell at anime conventions in the artist alley and am in college for animation, but i've had a lot of experience selling and talked to many professionals about what works and what doesn't. And since you seemed to be pretty serious in your endeavors I thought you'd appreciate some advice. I wish you the best of luck, however you go about it ^-^

I'm glad you're actually trying to listen to me!

They really aren't much better sorry to say, and unless im looking at the wrong pictures you didn't draw them originally but only edit them, and purely from an editing point of view, they are amateur and as a whole don't have any retail value (even ignoring the fact that 98% of people willing to spend over ten cents on art HATE recolors) . The truth is you need to work on your fundamentals. Look up tutorials, dA is a great resource and practice like crazy. Offering free requests is a good way to get practice with commissions and build a positive reputation around here at the same time. My friend couldn't manage to sell her work and thats what she did.

Overall it seems like your getting ahead of yourself. Your not yet ready to sell, at least not successfully.
