I highly recommend watching "Arashi no Yoru ni" It has a very sweet story, the animation is beautiful and soft and the ending will have you in tears! Enjoy! I plan to purchase the movie for my viewing pleasure! XD I really love these too! There friendship is the perfect allegory for friends that are the closest but don't need to be in love! :'D

I don't know. Wasn't it a kid's book or kid's manga before? I know Ernest and Celestine was a picture book before it was a movie. Same with Little Bear too I think ('cept that turned into a TV show). But yeah, I something to wonder about. But it's still great

They did not turn Mei into a girl, they selected her to be a girl. In the original books the movie and series are based on, Mei is never refered to be gender and has an androgynous figure to ensure it. The movie just chose to make Mei male for simplicity's sake while the series decided to do the opposite to be different. Did you know this?
