Description
I've never liked the Autobots' symbol very much. So much "blah" in it. (Same for the G2 symbol... and the Transtech 'bots symbol too.) Sssssooo, I made my own. I dunno, looks like Soundwave sorta, but I still like it.Related content

This would make a really cool insignia for another Autobot faction.

Of course, use it however you like. I don't own Transformers! (And thanks, glad you like it.)

Plan to do a Con one? I think by seeing this one, you'd make one epic one.

I should, really. But I doubt I could come up with anything better than the Transtech Decpticon logo. Thanks for the encouragement!

Actually I think it kind of looks like Grimlock, really.
Which I'm sure would make Him Grimlock (Him King!) quite happy.

Heh, true, good point. I was always partial to Don Figueroa's take on Grimlock, with the teeth on the sides of the faceplate.

Figueroa did The War Within, didn't he?
I miss that book. We will never know what happened.

Indeed he did. But War Within finished. So did War Within II (The Dark Ages). It was War Within III (Age of Wrath) which never finished... Is that what you are referring to?

Yes. I was speaking of "never know what happened" in the over-arching metaplot sense.

Got it, OK. Yeah, I actually preferred Dreamwave's TF comics to the stuff IDW has done. :-/

Wait, seriously? Umm... why exactly?

Let me be clear: I don't (didn't) like Dreamwave as a company. However, I think they handled the Transformers very well. As for IDW... well, I think their handling of TF is obnoxiously incosistent, less interesting, more arbitrary, and generally misguided. I mean, coming up with a series of G1 characters who are not based on ANY existing toy? Seems like folly to me. But really, it's the writing and art that wins for me. Not that IDW hasn't done good stuff, but on the whole I thought DW's stuff was better. (shrug)

Well, I like War Within as much as the next guy, but I gotta say, Regeneration One was one of the worst comics I ever read and the artwork which STARTED good ended up being so terrible, I just laughed at practically every panel, especially things drawn by Pat Lee (Dull Surprise anyone?)
Now, I personally feel that Infiltration and Escalation are some of, if not the, best Transformers series I ever read, and I love the art by EJ Su, it fits the Transformers so well. It's detailed, as a mechanical character should be, but it isn't so cluttered that you can't see what's going on, which sadly is the case for a lot of the Dreamwave stories and some of the IDW stories like "Maximum Dinobots"
As for rebooting the characters themselves, well, yeah, it kinda needed it. I mean, there are familiar elements, Kup, Megatron, Optimus and Starscream have barely changed, I just think it's good to change up the 'status quo' every once-in-a-while, otherwise a series will just end up repeating itself and get completely stale.

I think my big problem with IDW's stuff is that except for the "Regeneration One" line, they have basically thrown out all prior continuity and history from the previous TF comics, and are essentially unveiling their own continuity and canon as they unfold the story. So basically we learn about the various bits and pieces of backstory as the current story takes place.
Which isn't all that bad, but when you're expecting X, Y, or Z from the original series or the Marvel comic, or whatever, and they give you something else, it's a bit disorienting.
That being said, the interplay between Tailgate and Cyclonus is hilarious.

I pretty much agree. Plus I wish we got more Don Figueroa art.
