Description
So recently I’ve been reading a really refreshingly creative Transformers fanfiction titled “Division ” by BalloonArcade.
The summary is as follows:
Sideswipe emerged from the All Spark defective. Twitchy and aggressive, the Autobots took Sideswipe’s emergence as a warning to stop pumping out new sparks for war frames. His was the last spark forced from the All Spark before Optimus Prime sent it off to space.
It only has like 7 chapters, but it grabbed me immediately, and I think about it at least twice per week, and because I couldn’t let it go, I decided to do some fanart! Also, BalloonArcade is leaving for her own Magical QuestTM so I’m happy I finished on time!

Sides has finally found the piece of his spark he was missing.
As for the technique, I realized I suck at drawing straight lines, so I’m really proud how this turned out, even though it took a while!
PS1: you can see the stars in the background, and because I’m a nerd, the constellation for Gemini is in the top right corner.

well, I can totally understand that, cause I'm obsessed and I think I'd immediately recognize a concept corvette as Sides... sally, that means I often forget other people have less obsessive tendencies and that adding that information on the post might have been a good idea

THE ANGLES AND THE LIGHTING!! it honestly looks both lonely and perfect for them, as if they're out on a desert highway together! AND SOL'S POSE!! THAT'S PERFECT!!

yes, originally it was gonna be a really close perspective...but then I decided "nope, open spaces!" and it looks so much better cause now it looks like in all these space, in the wide universe, it's just the two of them!

This is wonderful! I especially love how calm it looks... the colours you've used are so soothing and make the two of them look even more comfortable with each other than just their poses do

I liked the idea of a desolate place, so this is either a beach of the salt flats,
and I'm really glad it successfully conveys how at ease these two characters are with each other!

How does one express properly how utterly AMAZING this is! I'm not certain I can. I am awestruck, blindsided out of nowhere. You included so many amazing fine details. Everything from the title, (Castor and Pollux, the Gemini twins GENIUS btw Don't think I haven't noticed your genius and what you did there) the constellations are not just randomized stars but actual constellations! (Gemini, Big Dipper and I was trying to tell if there was another one, if there is I'm sorry I missed it, I pulled out my star chart and everything), the colour transitions in the background as the night sky changes through twilight then to the rise of the sun made me lose my mind a little.
The background colours made me immediately think of this line (and you don't even know) I have PLANS for this line between Sideswipe and Sol in the background imagery of the story:
When golden yellow rays pierced across the sky, forcing back the limbo of deep blue twilight standing between night and day...
AND THAT IS JUST MY FLAILING ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND!
Sol is stunning! Human Sunstreaker, you have style! I haven't gotten to the conversation yet where Sideswipe asks what his "frame type" is, all I've described (up to Chapter 7) is his "eerie" blue eyes (because obviously there is something spark-related there) but you captured a lot of what I'm hoping to portray with Sol's family heritage. AND HE IS HAPPY!!! He feels complete!
The things I literally screamed out loud (and in text form when I sent it to my other half to oogle):
HIS FATHER'S JACKET!!!! Stab me with my own feels!
COMBAT BOOTS MY HEART! I ADORE COMBAT BOOTS AND WITH YELLOW!
SIDESWIPE HAS RED RIMS! AND SOL HAS A YELLOW SHIRT! I love this little detail you added so much. This is a perfect homage to their G1 designs, it's subtle and beautifully executed and now I think Sol has to paint Sideswipe's rims red in the story. (Though I was planning something with red)
And their postures! They are so at EASE with each other. Content. It's hard to tell with Sideswipe in his alt mode but he is letting his human's aft touch him! You know how much of a problem he still has with "leaking" humans in the story so far.
Sideswipe managed to activate his human and find that piece of his spark that has been missing and haunting him his entire what is it 15,000 years in Bayverse? Sol, you've got nothing on poor Sideswipe's angst of living without you!
Dances around and freaks out the dog.
Above all else, your artwork is GORGEOUS, CREATIVE, and so incredibly DETAILED. You draw a stunning corvette Sideswipe (I can't even imagine how hard it was to draw that wide-angle-like perspective of him from), and I'm astounded as always how much emotion you can convey in positioning of your subjects. (OMG I just noticed the heel of Sol's boot is RESTING on Sideswipe *faints*)

I'm really glad you got this before your trip!
I actually have no idea why I got the Greek mythology involved here, except that I was drawing Sides and sudendly
I thought "hey, there must be a way I can imply this meeting was written in the stars"
(you got your star maps out? oh lol: I had to take mine out too because I forgot how gemini was supposed to look!) yes, there are more constellations - a bit of cancer, a bit of leo and part of virgo- but they don't get to shine as much because of their position and the coloring of the sky...meh, who cares as long as gemini shines!
Ooooh! I read that line and Oh dear Primus that's an amazing quote!! *jumps from joy* can't wait to read the rest of that scene someday! (and how lucky are you that you get to plot your stories while looking at new sights!)
Oh I'm glad you like this version of Sol! I'm pretty sure the image in my head was different than yours, but I'm glad I got the gist! and I'm happy that you noticed the colors of our heroes here: Bayverse!Sides is mostly silver, but I managed to sneak that little bit of rouge ;D
and of course the combat boots have yellow in them; I cannot imagine Sol looking to buy shoes and not consider a choice with yellow in them! and I agree: the father's jacket was a MUST in this image! because not only does it make him look cool, it also represents a lot of Sol's personality and background history! (plus, the dad also had a connection with Sides too; he deserves to be in the image!)
*cries, collapses on the spot and hugs your knees* I'm so happy you noticed the perspective of the alt more because it was so hard!
...and I have no idea how to convey if Sides is at peace or not, but I like to think that he's relaxing too! ;D
