Caranthir is a firebender who is simply too passionate to be able to produce lightning... until he met Haleth.

Remember that headcanon where the sons of Feanor are element benders ? Well, turns out I jut cannot let an idea die, I need to obsess over it, think about it while I wait in my bed for sleep to come, and generally ruin your regular image of that character!

I know, I know, some of you are gonna say "Caranthir doesn't have the temperament nor a balanced heart to be able to produce lightning!" and you're probably right but, *shrughs* I can headcanon the idea that maybe Haleth somehow managed to make him more balanced or tamed Caranthir's temperament!
